The SL-1001 is made from Hand Worked 6150 Spring Steel. The Blade is an Oakeshott Type XV, Acutely Tapered blade with diamond cross-section and a sharp point. In use circa 1300–1500.
It is an excellent thrusting sword and a potent cutter toward the middle part of the blade where the profile widens. The Pommel and Guard are made from mild steel. The Leatherwrapped 4 1/4 inch grip is poplar with cord overwrap. Overall the SL-1001 is an accurate representation of a Mid 14th century sword
